Conducting Monthly Union Meeting Via ZOOM

Dear Brothers and Sisters, 

              Over the last 5 months, our way of life has been changed forever. The effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic have been wide and far-reaching. Over 150 thousand of our fellow Americans have lost their lives, and many more have become ill. If you have lost someone, we wish you our deepest condolences. If you are sick, we wish you a full and speedy recovery. 

Since February, dealing with the effects of this virus has been challenging. We have never dealt with a situation like this before. There is no playbook to go by. Things are moving fast, and decisions are made and constantly changing because new information and regulations arise. The health and safety of our members and staff is always the most important issue we deal with. In March, the decision was made to scale back the operations at the union hall. The Business Agents and staff would take turns rotating in and out of the office, maintain social distancing, continue day to day operations, and the rest was done remotely. 

There is much more to be said on this topic. This issue is not going away and in all of this, we lost our ability to conduct monthly union meetings. These meetings are paramount to keeping members informed and hearing about the issues at hand in an open forum. The reason for initially canceling the meeting was for the safety of everyone along with the governor’s order restricting group gatherings to 25 people. It has since been updated to a maximum of only 100 people. If you regularly attend these meetings you know we typically get 300 or more members each month. The meetings must resume, and we plan on doing just that. With no vaccine or ability to do meetings in person, we decided to conduct the meetings via teleconferencing on ZOOM until it is safe to resume in person. It is not a perfect solution, but it is our best option. We understand that not every member knows how to use ZOOM, but we will do our best to get everyone up to speed before our meeting on Wednesday, September 2nd. We have enclosed directions for downloading and using ZOOM on your computer, tablet, or cell phone. You may join the meeting by phone call as well. In any case, you must complete the form mentioned below. 

To receive the invitation to join these meetings, we need a current email address or cell phone number that can receive text messages. Go to our website We have set up a web form where you will input in the following- Name, Address, Member Number, Phone Number, and E-Mail. Once completed you can choose to receive the invite via email or text message. This will ensure that the information will be applied to the correct member. It will be for Local 22 use only. You only need to do it once to join all future meetings. The invitation will be sent on the morning of the meeting.
